LOOK WHO'S COMING TO DINNER
Look Who's Coming To Dinner
I like doing street photography. There is so much to see when walking down a street or sitting in a market. I enjoy watching people as they go about their day or sit quietly, alone or with others. All this is opportunity waiting for the camera lens.
This artist book is a collection of my photographs taken while walking in the market and on the streets of Ottawa and Toronto. The picture on the cover is a hologram repurposed from a National Art Centre program, for a Beethoven concert. Turn the book one way and Beethoven appears, turn it another way and the conductor of the concert appears.
Materials used to make this book include: leather, hologram, paper, ink, pencil and photographs.
Front cover: leather, hologram image of the concert conductor.
Front cover: leather, hologram image of Beethoven.
For each page I drew a pair of eyes, on a flap, one set closed and one set open (blink or looking). When the flap is raised, the whole photograph of who's coming to dinner is exposed.
This photo was taken at the CN Tower in Toronto.
When I first saw this lady, she was at quite a distance from me. I first thought it was a porcupine, and I asked myself, why a porcupine would be in such close proximity to the busy market, As I continue to focus on the lady's back, I realized it was a lady and her hair which was a perfect match to the tree.
These two ladies were presenters at the Turkish cultural fair, in Ottawa. They were demonstrating the making of food.
That's me on the left. I asked a young man to take my photo next to the bike stand. He kept looking at me and at the lady in the bathing suit. The look on his face made me laugh.
This lady was at the Comic Store event.
Mr. Flett, the clown was a regular presence in the Byward market, making animal balloons for the children.
This lady was also part of the Comic Book store event.
The shirt sleeves of the couple in the left photo was what caught my eye.
These three fellows were regulars at the Byward market.
This is one of my favourite photos of dad and son.
It was a very hot day at the CN Tower in Toronto and this fellow had such a scowl on his face. I found him intriguing.
