Asemic Writing Art
Asemic Bestiary
I found a swan in an illuminated manuscript that was part drawn swan and part lettering. This started me thinking about my bestiary creatures and I took some of them and worked Asemic writing into their composition.

This is one of my creations
This is the piece that inspired the rest of the bestiary pieces. The original is called: The Swan Constellation: a calligram from the Aratea of Cicero, 9th century.

Pattern Book
I used two different papers for this book: sketch paper for the drawings and painting and a light vellum between each sketch. I did the Asemic writing on the vellum and when it covered the art the writing fell into different areas of the graphic. The book can be viewed forward and backward. When the viewer reaches the center of the book they close it and turn the book upside down and backwards. This is a book to be played with and viewed in different directions.

I will finish here. There is more to come. This has been such a pleasant, creative journey and very satisfying.
Until next time: enjoy spring and the new life it brings.
