SNOW WHITE AND THE 7 Ds
Some years we get a lot of snow in Ottawa and other years we get extreme cold and snow. Jack Frost is one of my favourite winter artists and he has left a lot of beautiful images on the old windows. New ones have since been installed and Jack is no longer an artist in residence.
When looking through my photos, one day, I came across a lot of winter scenes and activities. This led to the creation of the artist book: Snow White and the 7 Ds. I chose photographic images for each of the 7 D's, and no, they are not the dwarfs, but the seven days of the week.
I used white polychromos pencils on black sketch paper.

The January 1 polar dip in Ottawa. These fellows walked on water before dropping into the icy water.
This little fellow turned blue just watching them jump in.
Wet ice and snow clinging to the branches.
Freezing rain is common in Ottawa and if not too heavy, the icy coat they give to the naked trees is beautiful.
We were heading into spring when I caught this little piece of snow still clinging to a branch.
The park next to the apartment building. I took this from my balcony. The beauty of snow dressing naked trees is always a wonder to the eyes.
